I can help your family adjust to life with a newborn:
- Postpartum Nutrition and Meal Prep: I have 10 years experience with nutrition and healing. I submit to the philosophy of Weston A Price and Nourishing Traditions whole foods protocols for fertility, pregnancy and postpartum healing and breastfeeding. I offer planning and meal prep of nourishing foods that are scientifically proven to speed up the recovery process after childbirth and nourish your new baby with all of the amazing macro and micro-nutrients you both need for recovery, growth and development. This nutritional protocol is almost identical to the Chinese Method used in "the first forty days: The Essential Art of Nourishing the New Mother" by Heng Ou.
- Lactation/Bottle Feeding Support: I offer guidance and support during the critical early days and weeks of the feeding and bonding relationship, to ensure moms are successful and babies are thriving. I can also support with best practices for pumping if you are planning on going back to work.
- Newborn Care and Education: The first week can be terrifying often leaving parents in disbelief that the doctors would let them go home with the baby. Babies definitely don't come with instruction manuals, but I can show you evidence based methods for baby calming, help you master the swaddle and even assist with newborn nail clipping. I can also help you learn about newborn and baby sleep and figure out how to get your baby in a good sleep routine.
- Partner/Sibling Care: I will answer questions that partners have about baby care, bonding with baby, supporting their partners during their healing time, feeding questions…and the list goes on. Older children are going through a transition, too. So I provide extra attention, easing their entry into the important role of big sister or brother.
- Postpartum Recovery: Becoming a parent for the first time is filled with all of the newness, uncertainty—it’s one of the biggest changes you’ll ever go through physically and emotionally! And if you have older children, your role as a parent will shift with them, too. Plus all of the hormones that come along with this time—emotions are riding high. That’s where postpartum doulas come in to help you process these emotions, provide a kind & listening ear, and a shoulder to lean on if needed. I will also be there to assist with the healing process and I can offer organic herbal blends for sitz baths and yoni steams. I'm also trained to spot postpartum mood disorders and I can refer you to our favorite professionals if this is a part of your experience. I will stay right beside you every step of the way!
- Professional Referrals: I make sure families get whatever help they might need, providing referrals to respected local resources such as lactation consultants (IBCLC), parenting classes, pediatricians, infant massage classes, postpartum pelvic therapy, postpartum support groups and so much more.
- Light Housekeeping: I offer help with household management – doing baby laundry, organizing, picking up around the house, running errands on my way to/from my shift – to lighten new parents’ overwhelm.
